Auto Pilot mode

Intentionally fail a level eight times. In Auto Pilot mode Mario will automatically complete a level.

Movies

Collect all three Star Coins on a level to the Hint Movie for that particular level.

Hatless Mario

Get 99 lives and Mario will no longer wear his hat. If you complete a level with 99 lives, Mario will not be wearing a hat at the map screen or the next level. He will wear a hat again if his lives drop below 99.

Alternate endings

Complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding ending.

Unlockable: --- How to Unlock:

Ending 1 --- Beat the game with less than 100 Star Coins. The Princess will say "Did I ever tell you about the Secret World?"

Ending 2 --- Beat the game will all Star Coins from Worlds 1 through 8. The Princess will say, "Oh Mario, tell me about your adventure again!"

Mushroom houses

Select a level with a white Toad marker. Listen for Toad when the level starts then break the "?" block that he is inside to free him. Reach the end of the level to make a mushroom house appear. The following types of mushroom house with a mini-game or reward will appear, depending on the last number of the timer when you collect the flag to end the level.

Unlockable: --- How to Unlock:

Gold house with Star reward --- Last number of the timer is 7, 8 or 9.

Green house with 1-Up Cannon mini-game --- Last number of the timer is 0, 1, 2 or 3.

Red house with Match mini-game --- Last number of the timer is 4, 5 or 6.

World 9

Beat the game to unlock World 9. The levels in World 9 are only available if all Star Coins are collected in the previous Worlds.

Level 9-2 --- Find all Star Coins in World 2.

Level 9-3 --- Find all Star Coins in World 3.

Gold Mushroom House

Get Toad to the end of the level and hit flag when the last digit of the time ends in 7, 8 or 9

Green Mushroom House

Get Toad to the end of the level and hit flag when the last digit of the time ends in 0, 1, 2 or 3.

Red Mushroom House

Get Toad to the end of the level and hit flag when the last digit of the time ends in 4, 5 or 6

Save Option

After you finish the final castle in World 8, you can save anywhere in the map. A Save option will appear where the Quick Save option used to be.

Stars

Fulfilling special tasks will award you stars on your save file.

Sparkling Stars --- Beat the game without Super Guide appearing.

Star 1 --- Beat the game.

Star 2 --- Beat every normal level

Star 3 --- Find all 207 star coins in the first 8 worlds.

Star 4 --- Find all 24 star coins in world 9.

Star 5 --- Beat every level, find every secret goal and use all of the warp cannons.

Ending Fun

When you beat giant bowser you play a fun game where the credits are on ? blocks and you bash them for coins! On the top right on the screen it shows you the high scores!!!

Unlimited Mushroom Houses

Get five stars on your save file by beating the game, collecting all the star coins in worlds 1-8, all the star coins in world 9, finding all the exits from a level and using every mushroom house and cannon on the map and you'll get a message saying everything has been cleared. Mushroom Houses will never go away, letting you max out your items.

Free Coins from Dancing Flowers

Every dancing flower will give you one coin if you Spin Jump (flick Wiimote upwards) from a Neutral position.

Extra lives

In World 2, you can jump on the turtle as done in New Super Mario Bros. to get extra lives until you choose to stop or until time runs out.

If you are riding on a Yoshi and jump on the bullets seven or eight times you will get as many extra lives as desired.

Kill eight enemies with a star on you to get an extra life. You can keep it going until the star runs out if you are fast enough.

Kill eight enemies with a turtle shell you will get an extra life. You can keep hitting the turtle shell until there are no more enemies if you run fast enough.

Jump on seven turtles to get an extra life. You can keep jumping on the turtles until there are no more to jump on if you are fast enough.

Freeze the Pokeies then do a quick Ground Pound to get at least five extra lives.

Easy extra life

To get an easy leval up at the end there is a pole(ya no the 1 with a bowser flag on it)jump(this is better with a hellacopter suit)on top of the pole then u get an extra life.

Destroy Enemies on Map

Using the star power-up, walk into an enemy on the map screen, such as the giant Goomba in World 1. They will instantly disappear!

Easy coins

Stand still, then Spin Jump on a dancing flower to get a coin.

Avoid random encounters

You can encounter random enemies on the world map, To avoid them, activate a Star from your item menu.

Double Ground Pound

In multi-player mode, have both players time a Ground Pound (press [Jump], Down) to hit the ground simultaneously. This results in a Double Ground Pound that can kill nearby enemies similar to using a POW Block.

Steal teammate's Red Mushroom House turn

In multi-player mode, do a Ground Pound on your teammate to steal their turn in a Red Mushroom House match game.

Dead player sounds

In multi-player mode, when someone runs out of lives during a level they can hold the D-pad in any direction and press 1 and 2 to make sounds such as a cowbell, drums, clapping, and a horn.

Head protection

When in front of a small item such as a turtle shell, press 1 and shake the Wiimote while picking it up. Holding it over your head will protect you from falling objects.

Free Powerups in World 2-5

In 2-5, grab Yoshi. He's toward the beginning of the level. Then, eat the snowmen things (I think they're called Pokies) when they look like peaches - when the music goes "dah." You can get a powerup! I discovered this while i was thinking:

"If you eat 5 peaches with Yoshi, you get a powerup. And those snowman things look like peaches when the music goes "dah!"" I wondered if there was a relationship, and it turns out, there was!

A Dumb Way to Avoid Doing Levels

Want to not do a level. Die 7, 8 or 9 times to make a Luigi demo do the work for ya! At the end of the level it will ask you if you want to try it with Mario or skip it because Luigi did it. Push skip it. The board will still be red but it will not be flashing. You can skip right past it. NOTE:It will not be allowed on multiplayer mode, only single player mode.

Play as Luigion any level

When watching a demo, stop playing the demo. You'll play as Luigi until you beat the level.

Secret pipes in 1-1

In 1-1 where there are the spinning circles somewhere after or before the checkpoint so some of those circles have an underground pipe if you go into the wall and i think one of the pipes has a star coin.

Infinite 1ups in world 2-3

You start at the long pair of 3 coin ? blocks with a propeller box on the mushroom ground and just fly and land and fly in a row on the goombas and those green fat coin givers when you kill them.

Super screw ups

After world nine there are more levels this is how to get it in the last level of world 9 at the end use a yoshi to go up to the pipe and go up it.

Yoshi's Island series reference

After defeating the Koopa Kids once, Kamek casts a spell to make them tougher for the rematch. In Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island DS, he also cast spells on those Bosses that made them tougher.

Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Galaxy reference

During the introduction sequence, you can see Bowser Jr. and the other Koopalings leave after kidnapping Princess Peach and taking off in an airship from Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Galaxy.

Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. references

Reach the goal with a time of 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, or 99 to see from one to nine fireworks.

99 lives

(only works with multi-player) Go to world 4 to the last castle. When you get to the large fence whith koopas on it, have one player constantly banging on the fence, and another with the ice flower juping and trying to freeze a koopa. This has to be done at the same time. To the effect of this, infinite coins will fall out of the frozen koopa. note: there is no ice flower on this level, so you will have to get one from your inventory. note note: this glitch will work, it is not a hoax.
